ISLAMABAD: The United Arab Emirates on Monday celebrated its 54th Union Day with a dignified ceremony attended by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, senior government officials, diplomats, and distinguished guests.
Welcoming the participants, the UAE Ambassador said it was an honor to mark a day that commemorates the historic unification of the Emirates in 1971 under the visionary leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
He said this year’s theme, “United,” reflects the values that have guided the UAE for more than five decades — unity, cohesion, tolerance and shared purpose — values that transformed the Union into a remarkable model of development and stability.
The Ambassador noted that the celebration coincides with the declaration of 2025 as the Year of the Community, emphasizing the vital role played by citizens and residents representing over 200 nationalities who live together in harmony and contribute to the UAE’s identity as a nation of unity in diversity.
Highlighting the UAE’s progress over the past half-century, the envoy said the country has pursued innovation, economic diversification and sustainable development, guided by national
visions including “We the UAE 2031” and “UAE Centennial 2071.” He added that the UAE’s strides in clean energy, knowledge-based growth, and future-ready sectors reflect a strategic commitment to excellence, investment in people, and sound resource management.
The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the UAE’s enduring commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Pakistan and deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
