Islamabad (City Reporter) Young lawyer, human rights activist Ali Chingizi Sindhu Advocate, as the legal advisor of the Human Rights Council of Pakistan, seven Pakistani fishermen who have endured the hardships of imprisonment in Indian jails for the past seven years. Requests have been made to Pakistani, Indian and human rights organizations for the release of the prisoners. It should be noted that persons named Abdullah, Muhammad Ishaq, Noor Hussain, Noor Ul Amin, Noor Nabi, Muhammad Sharif, Azimuddin, Amir Hussain and Kamal Hussain, who were on board the boat named Al Aisha bearing the number 18382-B, were arrested by the Indian Coast Guard in 2018. He was arrested on charges of violation of Indian maritime boundaries and fishing. Neither the Pakistani nor the Indian governments have taken any substantial steps to release these prisoners and their families have not been given the facility to contact them in the last seven years. Ali Chingizi Sindhu further said that the Indian government should adhere to the 2008 Convention on Counselor Access to Prisoners to not only grant access to the families of these prisoners, but also to those who cross the sea involuntarily on humanitarian grounds. The fishermen should be released immediately. He said that this writ will also be filed in the Sindh High Court soon.
