Food Secretary Azad Kashmir Reviews Progress on Nutritional Standards and Food Quality

Rawalpindi (NNP) Azad Kashmir Secretary for Food, Sardar Sohail Azam, chaired a review meeting of the Food Department at Nizamat Food, Rawalpindi. The meeting focused on evaluating the progress and initiatives related to the nutritional standards across all districts of Azad Kashmir, ensuring the quality of flour, managing wheat reserves, and improving the distribution of government-subsidized flour to eligible beneficiaries.

During the meeting, Secretary Azam emphasized the strict implementation of Supreme Court directives to ensure the provision of quality food items to the public. He directed officials to intensify inspections with special focus on critical food items such as milk, oil, ghee, and fish.

The Secretary also reviewed advancements in laboratory equipment and machinery used for food quality analysis and called for further improvements. He urged food safety officers to launch awareness campaigns on food safety in educational institutions to educate the younger generation about safe food practices.

Furthermore, Secretary Azam stressed the importance of ensuring the uninterrupted supply of government-subsidized flour to the public to deliver the benefits of subsidies effectively. He called for stringent measures to prevent the smuggling of flour out of Azad Kashmir, safeguarding resources meant for the local population.

The meeting marked a significant step toward enhancing food safety and ensuring equitable access to quality food across the region.
