Islamabad (NNP) Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, recently held a meeting with Khawar Nawaz Raja, President of the Kashmir Journalists Forum, and senior journalist Mehtab Bashir. During the meeting, Raja and Bashir outlined the valuable services provided by the Kashmir Journalists Forum to its members.
They requested the allocation of university quotas and a minimum 50% fee discount for journalists and their children residing in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and across Azad Kashmir. Dr. Ahmed acknowledged the importance of journalists as the fourth pillar of the state and expressed his support for the proposal.
“Journalists are the mirror of our society, and supporting their educational needs is commendable. We will strive to implement these measures,” said Dr. Ahmed. This initiative aims to enhance educational opportunities for journalists and their families, reflecting HEC’s commitment to inclusive higher education.
