ISLAMABAD (NNP) :On Thursday, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, emphasized Pakistan’s long-standing relationship with Russia and expressed a commitment to expanding cooperation in various fields, particularly parliamentary collaboration. He made these remarks during a meeting with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Albert Horew, who extended an invitation to him to visit the House of Commons.
During their discussion, both parties underscored the importance of regular exchanges and cooperation between their respective parliaments. They highlighted the role of parliamentary friendship groups and high-level exchanges as valuable opportunities to learn from one another and benefit from each other’s experiences.
Speaker Sadiq recalled his initiatives to strengthen inter-parliamentary relations during his previous tenure. He referenced the organization of Pakistan’s first six-nation speaker conference, which included participants from Afghanistan, Iran, China, Turkey, and Russia. This conference was significant for engaging in discussions on several issues of mutual interest. Sadiq also noted his role as the convener of the Pakistan-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group in the 15th National Assembly of Pakistan.
Ambassador Horew congratulated Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on his re-election and wished him success in his continued efforts. He recognized the Speaker’s important contributions to strengthening Pakistan-Russia relations and assured ongoing cooperation to further enhance bilateral ties.
