ISLAMABAD (NNP) A wave of controversy, the Islamabad police department finds itself in upheaval as three senior Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) take leave in protest over the appointment of a junior officer, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, as the new Chief of Police. Rizvi, formerly serving as DIG Operations in Lahore, now assumes the mantle of leadership in the federal capital, replacing IG Islamabad, Akbar Nasir Khan. In response, IG Khan promotes 14 inspectors to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), a move approved by the departmental promotion committee. However, this decision exacerbates tensions within the department, leading to the departure of DIGs Owais Malik, Hasan Raza, and Shoaib Janbaz. Reports suggest further intrigue as one DIG allegedly seeks a transfer to the Railway Police, hinting at underlying power struggles within the law enforcement hierarchy.
