Pakistan’s Prime Minister Urges Early Conclusion of Pak-UK Enhanced Strategic Partnership Agreement

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan is pushing for the swift finalization of the Enhanced Strategic Partnership (ESP) agreement between Pakistan and the United Kingdom. In a meeting with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, he emphasized the need to elevate the bilateral relationship to new heights. Highlighting Pakistan’s priorities, he stressed the importance of tackling economic challenges and enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, climate, and people-to-people contacts. Sharif thanked British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Foreign Secretary Lord David Cameron for their congratulatory messages on his re-election, expressing eagerness to work closely with UK leadership. He also called for the early resumption of PIA flights between the two countries to strengthen ties and address concerns of the Pakistani diaspora in the UK. Additionally, Sharif extended his best wishes to King Charles III for a speedy recovery and expressed hope for a future visit to Pakistan once his health permits.
