Cologne, October 4, 2025 (Special Correspondent):
The world’s largest food and beverage trade fair, Anuga 2025, opened today in Cologne, Germany, and will run until October 8. Widely regarded as the most significant global platform for the food industry, this year’s edition has already been described as the biggest in the event’s history.
Record-Breaking Edition
According to the organizers, Anuga 2025 covers an exhibition area of 290,000 square meters, making it the largest edition to date. More than 8,000 exhibitors from 110 countries are showcasing their products and innovations.
Organizers further stated that the event is expected to draw over 140,000 visitors from 200 countries, with an overwhelming 94 percent of attendees coming from outside Germany, underscoring its international significance.
Global Representation
Countries with the strongest exhibitor presence this year include Italy, Spain, China, Germany, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Turkey, and the United States.
In addition, Anuga 2025 features 174 group stands from 78 countries, while the largest national pavilions have been set up by Turkey (Istanbul), China, Italy, Spain, and the United States—expected to be major highlights of the exhibition.
Pakistan’s Participation
Pakistan is also represented at the event, with a total of 54 companies showcasing their products. However, reports indicate that only 34 companies are formally participating under the umbrella of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).
Industry sources have expressed concern over what they describe as underwhelming trade performance by Pakistan in European markets, suggesting that greater institutional support is needed to fully leverage such platforms.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan-Benelux Overseas Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PBOCCI), Belgium, has also sent a delegation to the event to promote Pakistani products and explore opportunities for enhanced access to the European market.
Expanding Trade Horizons
Analysts believe that Anuga 2025 will open new avenues for global investment, exports, and imports in the food and beverage sector. For Pakistani companies, in particular, the trade fair provides a valuable opportunity to showcase their products, establish direct links with international buyers, and expand their footprint in the competitive European market.
