UoS and QBS Karachi Sign MoU to Boost Research, Innovation, and Industry-Academia Collaboration

The University of Sargodha (UoS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with QBS Karachi to promote collaborative research, innovation, and capacity building in emerging fields.The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Ijaz Asghar Bhatti, Director External Linkages UoS, and Mr. Faraz Ahmed, CEO of QBS, in the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas and senior officials from both institutions.

The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation in research, development, and commercialization, with a focus on student mentorship, capacity building, internships, and career opportunities. It also includes financial and academic support for PhD and postgraduate research, including industrial PhDs, MS theses, final-year projects, and capstone projects.

Key provisions cover the hiring of research associates, faculty honorariums, promotion of student and faculty startups, and joint initiatives in advanced fields such as AI, cybersecurity, data science, robotics, IoT, UAVs, and IC design. Language training and certifications will also be offered for QBS’s workforce.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas underlined the importance of strong industry-academia linkages in addressing contemporary challenges and equipping students with future-ready skills. He noted that such collaborations enhance applied research while creating greater employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for graduates.
