Aziz Boolani Awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz for Services to Hospitality and Social Sector

ISLAMABAD: Aziz Boolani, Chief Executive Officer of Serena Hotels South Asia, has been awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the country’s hospitality industry, social responsibility, and cultural promotion. The Sitara-i-Imtiaz is the third highest civilian award in Pakistan, conferred on individuals for especially meritorious contributions in their respective fields.

Under Mr. Boolani’s leadership, Serena Hotels has expanded its footprint and further strengthened its reputation as a leading hospitality brand in the region. Industry experts note that enhanced service quality, customer care, and a series of innovative initiatives have been instrumental in driving the group’s growth and credibility.

Of particular note is Serena Hotels’ Sports Diplomacy programme, an initiative widely lauded by both the diplomatic community and the public. The platform has provided opportunities for young talent, including mountaineers Mirza Ali and Samina Baig, who were first introduced to the nation through Serena’s platform before going on to conquer Mount Everest and earning global acclaim.

In addition to hospitality and sports, Mr. Boolani has also been active in social welfare and charity. Alongside his wife, he has played a significant role in mobilising resources for organizations dedicated to humanitarian causes. Serena Hotels has in recent years organized fund-raising music shows in collaboration with embassies of Hungary and the European Union. Remarkably, ambassadors from Bosnia, Denmark, Japan and Australia formed a music band to perform in support of the underprivileged.

Serena Hotels’ contributions extend beyond Pakistan, with initiatives in South and East Asia also focusing on cultural exchange and humanitarian work. Observers say that such efforts not only promote Pakistan’s image abroad but also create meaningful impact in communities.

The award acknowledges Mr. Boolani’s “magnanimous personality and vision” that has driven both corporate success and social responsibility. Analysts believe that the Serena Hotels model under his stewardship sets a valuable precedent for the private sector, demonstrating how businesses can complement the state in advancing social and humanitarian goals.
