Pakistan, France & WHO Join Forces to Eradicate Polio — Hope Rises for a Polio-Free Nation

Posted on October 14, 2025October 14, 2025 by News Desk

Islamabad : With the generous support of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), Pakistan and the World Health Organization (WHO) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening joint efforts to eradicate polio from the country.

French Ambassador Nicolas Galey, WHO Representative Dr. Luo, and Minister of State Ayesha Raza visited a vaccination centre in Islamabad today, where children were being administered polio drops. The visit was part of the ongoing National Polio Eradication Campaign, which aims to protect over 45 million children across Pakistan from the crippling disease.

Speaking on the occasion, the participants emphasized that through global cooperation and public participation, the goal of a polio-free Pakistan can soon be achieved.

“Together, we can end this global health threat once and for all,” said Ambassador Nicolas Galey.

The ongoing anti-polio campaign is being carried out under the Pakistan Polio Eradication Initiative, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office), AFD, and the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) Pakistan.
